Three-metre crocodile makes beeline for sandbar jetski pair
Betts
AN AGGRESSIVE croc rushed at two mates on a jetski at a popular Darwin beach - close to where a number of families were out enjoying the weekend.
The 3m saltie "popped up" just after Tony McLean, 43, and Dave Chatterton, 50, had stopped for a while at the sandbar by Dripstone cliffs, around 5pm on Saturday.
"We were just kicking around," Mr McLean, of Wulagi, told the Northern Territory News.
"When we were taking off, he just popped up beside us.
"My mate on the back yelled and went 'look, croc!', so we stopped."
But the pair were forced to take off quickly after the croc made a beeline for them.
"I had to get my mate to hang on because we had to take off - he'd have been right on us otherwise."
Mr McLean said the croc was big enough to jump up and grab one of them off the jetski if he'd wanted.
