John Moffatt Sets New PWC World Record Raises awareness for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. Staff John Moffatt sets a new world record for continuous distance on a personal watercraft (PWC) Sea‑Doo® GTX, raising the new mark to 11,525 miles (18,440 km). Moffatt completed his journey where it all began, in Miami, Florida. In four months he traveled across the eastern half of the United States and Canada to fulfill his dream of “being the best in the world at something,” and raise awareness for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, a disease his sister lives with. The trek equals a distance of nearly halfway around the world and a usage that would have taken the average watercraft owner over 14 years to amass. Moffatt owned the world record in 2000 for continuous distance on a personal watercraft (PWC) at 5,604 miles (9,018 km). However, that record was eclipsed a few months later by a group of four Sea-Doo watercraft riders who circumnavigated Australia, setting the new mark at 10,563 miles (17,000 km). Moffatt set the goal of shattering that record by a minimum of 1,000 additional miles.  “This record is a true testament to John Moffatt’s determination and perseverance and to the durability, reliability, and adventure capabilities built into each one of our Sea-Doo watercraft,” said Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager, Snowmobile, Watercraft, ATV and Sport boat at BRP.   “BRP congratulates John on achieving this incredible milestone and doing it aboard a Sea‑Doo watercraft.” he concluded.
